Mobile GIS Needs Assessment
The City of Tigard, OR engaged the Gartrell Group to perform a comprehensive needs assessment concerning opportunities for using mobile GIS to increase organizational efficiency and to improve field operations in multiple City departments. The assessment resulted in the development of a formal Mobile GIS Implementation Plan which has since been adopted by the City. The Plan includes details concerning mobile devices, software, and data best suited to the documented needs of different stakeholder groups; it also provides strategies for storing, synchronizing, and managing field-bound and field-gathered data and for providing solutions and support to users in an intermittently-connected field environment with varying positional accuracy and data currency requirements.
