A GIS Platform for the Environmental Affairs Division

We provide ongoing GIS support services to Seattle's public electric utility. Our work together has included performing user needs assessment, strategic planning, designing and implementing a state-of-the-art Geographic Information System and adapting a suite of Esri-based software tools optimized to support specific users and workflows. Let us know if you'd like to have a conversation about system design, tailored software, or on-call support services.

Speed and Accuracy in Mobile Mapping and Data Collection

Pike Electric is one of the U.S.'s leading service providers for electrical infrastructure. The Gartrell Group has enjoyed a successful working partnership with Pike for many years. Together, we have designed and developed a number of innovative solutions using Pike’s Esri software tool base. For each project, the goals have been to bring Pike and their customers greater accuracy and efficiency in work related to infrastructure planning, construction and maintenance. These solutions have been used to identify and monitor sensitive environmental and habitat resources, to manage right-of-way negotiations in the build-out of major transmission corridors, and to inform response strategies following natural disasters impacting the electrical grid.

We are currently working with Pike to design the next generation of a mapping tool suite used to support the work of Pike's field teams in auditing the condition and use of utility poles and other electrical assets. With integrated web management tools and a tablet app that works in the varied conditions that Pike's field crews encounter on a daily basis, the system ensures both efficiency and accuracy in the work of field teams and delivers real-time progress tracking capabilities to the project managers and the back office.

Ecosystem Services Mapping to Put Nature on the Balance Sheet

Our friends at Ecometrix Solutions and The Nature Conservancy engaged us to design and build a suite of mapping tools to help locate, define, and quantify ecosystem services and functions on real property. Initially funded by a $10M grant from the Dow Foundation to the Nature Conservancy, the mapping tool suite is now being used on Dow's industrial campuses across the globe and has been adopted by a diverse group of private, public, and not-for-profit organizations seeking ways to track and monitor nature as an asset and to incorporate the value of nature in their decision making.

Location Intel for One of the Largest Telecom's in the Middle East and Asia

Etisalat is one of the largest corporations in the six Arab countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Etisalat serves 11.6 million residential customers and over 300,000 large, medium and small enterprise and government customers in the UAE alone.

The Gartrell Group collaborates with Etisalat in developing data integration, analysis and visualization solutions focused on identifying and monitoring trends in cell usage across a variety of product lines and international market areas. Through a series of map and chart-integrated dashboards, we augment Etisalat's analytical and strategy development capabilities.

Esri-Based Modeling, Automation & Visualization

Our team is currently supporting Portland's Bureau of Environmental Services in developing unique stormwater infrastructure models to help the City identify risks and prioritize water system infrastructure investment. The multivariate, adaptive models incorporate a large number of business rules and data inputs that may be weighted and flexibly intertwined to produce telling information about where the City most needs to devote improvement efforts and resources to meet its strategic objectives.
